It has been reported that Chicago police have charged Jussie Smollet with filing a false report on his alleged assault that occurred in January. The police have evidence that he paid the two Nigerian brothers to commit the crime towards him. Lawyers Todd Pugh and Victor Henderson, who are representing the actor, said in a statement: “Like any other citizen, Mr Smollett enjoys the presumption of innocence, particularly when there has been an investigation like this one where information, both true and false, has been repeatedly leaked.” Jussie is scheduled for a bond hearing Thursday morning and if he’s found guilty for the false report, he will have to serve jail time for the crime.
There were rumors circulating that Jussie was being written off the Hit Tv series, “Empire.” The writers from the show have denied those rumors even though fans have speculated due to recent storylines. FOX are determining if they want to suspend Jussie from the show due to recent controversy and if he’s found guilty in the investigation. He’s scheduled to film on Thursday but due to the hearing, he won’t be able to attend set. It has been reported that his scenes have been reduced in half and he’ll be getting less screen time. Only time will tell if he’ll be written off the television series, which gave him an extreme amount of exposure.
