LeBron James decided to support Colin Kaepernick during his third preseason game as a Los Angeles Laker. The athlete was seen wearing a black long – sleeve with Kaepernick’s name across the back of it.
James was also an athlete that was featured in Nike’s 30th anniversary ‘Just Do It’ ad along with Serena Williams, Lacey Baker, Shaquem Griffin, and Odell Beckham Jr. He also has a deal with Nike and has been constantly praising the company for their decisions.
According to TMZ, James stated, “I wore a Kaepernick shirt tonight, one, because it’s Nike and I’m a Nike guy. And then, two, I support Kap. I’ve always supported Kap and what he stands for and what he believes in.”
LeBron has supported Kaepernick from the beginning. After Kaepernick’s Nike ad released, he received an array of negative comments. James said he stands “for anybody that believes in a positive attitude and a positive matter,” according to TMZ.
Late Thursday night, James posted on Instagram pictures of him and the shirt with the caption, “KAEP Drip #MoreThanAnAthlete.”
