It’s that time of the year again! Basketball season is in full effect for the Atlanta Hawks and they’re celebrating their 50th anniversary.
To jump-start the basketball season, the Atlanta Hawks received a brand new and improved arena and basketball court! State Farm Arena, formally known as Philips Arena, finally reopens their doors after being closed for the past six months due to reconstruction.
Within the final week of reconstruction, more than 750 workers have been working daily to finish the arena and basketball court for its unveiling to the public on October 20, 2018. According to Hawks CEO, Steve Koonin, more than 240,000 people signed up for free tickets to witness the unveiling of the new arena and the new basketball court.
The $194.5 million-dollar makeover includes new video boards, new premium seating areas, new restaurants, and even a barbershop amongst other new stores. The unveiling of the new arena is the perfect way to start off a promising season for the Atlanta Hawks.
As fans are excited about the new arena, they are equally excited for this upcoming season!
The home opener inside the new arena is on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 7pm.
